WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:06.560 Hello everyone and welcome to another Gamereactor Quick Look, it's time to take a look at an 00:06.560 --> 00:11.400 Acer Swift laptop again, particularly the 14AI. 00:11.400 --> 00:17.800 And I know there are some AI features in here, it's optimized for Copilot Plus, it has an 00:17.800 --> 00:26.540 NPU as part of the Intel Arc slash Core Ultra sort of ecosystem built in within that CPU. 00:26.540 --> 00:31.780 But still, I think we should discard a lot of the AI features and simply just look at 00:31.780 --> 00:36.580 it as a pretty compelling alternative to something like a MacBook Air. 00:36.580 --> 00:42.700 Because while Apple really printed money with some of the, like particularly the M1 Air 00:42.700 --> 00:48.220 back like four years ago, because it was just so far ahead in terms of the specifications 00:48.220 --> 00:52.340 offered and the battery life offered in such a slim form factor. 00:52.340 --> 00:59.620 When you look at the Swift 14AI, it's incredible how far PC manufacturers have come. 00:59.620 --> 01:04.940 And you are paying a lot for the privilege here, this is like 1600 euros, but it's also 01:04.940 --> 01:07.740 incredible what they give you for that money. 01:07.740 --> 01:15.500 So first and foremost, this is incredibly small, like this is so small and thin and 01:15.500 --> 01:16.500 light. 01:16.620 --> 01:23.100 It is absolutely awesome to behold that something which feels like it should weigh the same 01:23.100 --> 01:30.740 as like an 11 inch iPad is really a 14 inch fully featured laptop with, and I will kid 01:30.740 --> 01:35.500 you not here, pretty awesome specifications for that 1600 euros. 01:35.500 --> 01:41.180 So yeah, you're putting down a lot of cash here, but in this really thin chassis, you 01:41.180 --> 01:43.260 get a lot of cool stuff. 01:43.260 --> 01:45.260 So let's take a closer look. 01:45.260 --> 01:49.060 So as I said, these two stickers here pretty much gives it away. 01:49.060 --> 01:59.580 This is an Intel Core Ultra 7 285V, and it comes with an Intel Arc 140V GPU, which is 01:59.580 --> 02:05.700 integrated into the CPU, so it's one SoC basically, but still pretty cool Arc module to get. 02:05.700 --> 02:11.500 And together with the Core Ultra 7, you basically shouldn't really need extra horsepower for 02:11.500 --> 02:16.380 a lot of the daily tasks that you would need something small and lightweight like this 02:16.380 --> 02:17.540 to perform. 02:17.540 --> 02:24.300 But that is really not all, because alongside that, it gets 32 gigs of LPDDR5X RAM, and 02:24.300 --> 02:27.340 there's a terabyte NVMe SSD in here. 02:27.340 --> 02:30.780 That is really something, I should say. 02:30.780 --> 02:35.940 The amount of RAM, the amount of storage, it's really cool to see in such a small form 02:35.940 --> 02:36.940 factor. 02:36.940 --> 02:40.900 You might be thinking, ah, well, that means that we're really skimping on battery life 02:40.900 --> 02:47.780 here, which was the soft spot for, well, particularly Intel-based small form factor 02:47.780 --> 02:49.580 laptops for a long time. 02:49.580 --> 02:51.380 Not the case here. 02:51.380 --> 02:58.220 This has a 65-watt-hour battery, but Acer promises 29 hours of use. 02:58.220 --> 03:05.100 And while that is just typical manufacturer bloat, you know, even if it's like 15 or even 03:05.100 --> 03:11.540 12 hours, that's a lot for something that is this small and light. 03:11.540 --> 03:15.020 I would be really happy with 12 hours. 03:15.020 --> 03:21.500 And you know, if they promise 29, I'm sure they're able to deliver on 12, even if you 03:21.500 --> 03:25.580 prefer the sportier side of the performance slider in Windows 11. 03:25.580 --> 03:29.020 You're not even skimping on ports all that much, at least not to me. 03:29.020 --> 03:35.260 You get 2X USB Type-C, and they're both Thunderbolt ports, which is great. 03:35.260 --> 03:39.260 It has Wi-Fi 7 and has Bluetooth 5.4. 03:39.260 --> 03:42.660 The webcam is 1440p. 03:42.660 --> 03:48.540 It's built into this little raised module here where there is a physical slider on it, 03:48.540 --> 03:52.300 meaning that as you pull that tab, it's physically blocked. 03:52.300 --> 03:54.860 But it's 1440p, which is absolutely great. 03:54.860 --> 04:00.500 And I would remind you again that all of this comes in a 1.26 kilogram package. 04:00.500 --> 04:01.820 That's incredible. 04:01.820 --> 04:06.180 But the final, I think, great thing here is this screen. 04:06.180 --> 04:13.900 It's 14 inches, as you can see, and that is gained by basically going over to a 16x10 04:13.900 --> 04:15.300 aspect ratio display. 04:15.300 --> 04:16.300 That's great. 04:16.300 --> 04:21.440 We've been wanting those to be kind of standardized for a while now, and it seems like they are. 04:21.440 --> 04:23.300 It's a format OLED. 04:23.300 --> 04:25.860 It has an optional touchscreen. 04:25.860 --> 04:30.420 It's 90 hertz, and it's 2.8K resolution. 04:30.420 --> 04:38.340 That is frighteningly close to being a lot better than even a liquid retina display MacBook 04:38.340 --> 04:41.860 because the MacBook Air is stuck at 60 hertz. 04:41.860 --> 04:44.340 It is not yet an OLED. 04:44.340 --> 04:49.940 We're expecting MacBook OLEDs to surface sometime out in the future. 04:49.940 --> 04:59.620 So if you get like a 90 hertz, 2.8K, 16x10 OLED with optional touchscreen functionality, 04:59.620 --> 05:01.380 that's really cool. 05:01.380 --> 05:06.820 And combined with all of the other features that you get here, that's really impressive. 05:06.820 --> 05:13.700 It even has a VESA HDR display 500 certification, I believe, which is also something that was 05:13.700 --> 05:17.700 up until recently rather uncommon in OLED panels. 05:17.700 --> 05:20.940 So really, really happy with this one. 05:20.940 --> 05:21.940 Happy to recommend it. 05:21.940 --> 05:26.620 You pay a pretty penny, but forget about the AI stuff and Copilot Plus. 05:26.620 --> 05:33.700 If it gets you, nets you individual value with your workflow, then by God, use it. 05:33.700 --> 05:39.020 But this is just a straight up very awesome laptop, and I'm floored that you can get this 05:39.020 --> 05:42.340 amount of functionality crammed into such a small form factor casing. 05:42.340 --> 05:43.340 Thank you so much for watching. 05:43.340 --> 05:43.840 See you on the next one.
